J. PHIL MCCOY IS PRESIDENT, CEO OF TRANSCONTINENTAL AVIONICS

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Dec. 12, 2000 -- J. Phil McCoy, president and CEO of TransContinental Avionics, Corp. (TCA), is no stranger to start-up companies.

TransContinental Avionics is an avionics service company which offers aircraft owners a coast-to-coast network of qualified avionics repair and installation facilities through a national chain of independently-owned and operated avionics shops all operating under the TCA service mark.

McCoy is truly multifaceted and extremely well qualified to head the TCA organization. He is thoroughly familiar with all aspects of business operations, including operations, organization, regulation, finance, accounting, product development, purchasing, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution.

In 1986, he founded McCoy Avionics Corporation to design, manufacture and market the MAC 1700 digital modification of the King KX 170 VHF Nav/Comm Transceiver. Initial shipments of the product began in February 1989, and the corporation sold over 6,000 MAC 1700s though a network of over 500 world-wide dealers. With annual sales peaking at $1.1 million, total sales of the MAC 1700 are now over $6 million.

McCoy invented and supervised the development and FAA certification of the product. He wrote all FAA STC/PMA and Repair Station materials for the company. In addition to FAA certification, he also successfully gained approval of McCoy Avionics Corporation as a USDA Medical Device Establishment, approved to manufacture non-invasive medical electronics.

In 1989, McCoy led the company to an intrastate IPO in Ohio raising over $1.3 million in capitalization and netting the company over 3,000 shareholders. At its high, shares sold for $3.75 per share on the "penny" stock market.

He retired from active day-to-day management of McCoy Avionics in April 1997 to concentrate his efforts on the development of TCA.
McCoy is known and respected throughout the general aviation industry not only as a product innovator but for his creative marketing concepts as well. McCoy Avionics is still the only manufacturer that sells its product and collects the purchase prices directly from customers on behalf of its dealers. Dealers receive a commission check "in the box" along with the product.

With over 25 years experience in marketing and over 20 years concentrated service in the avionics and aviation market, he has worked for such well known companies as Foster AirData Systems (now B.F. Goodrich Aerospace Systems), Fairchild-Swearingen Aircraft, King Radio Corporation (now Allied-Signal, Bendix/King), Midland International Corporation, The Vendo Company, and Jensen-Salsbery Laboratories.

McCoy is a graduate of Indiana University with a BA degree in communications. He is an instrument-rated private pilot.
